Mountain Top Engagement Session on Vancouver Island

A mountain top engagement session isn’t something we normally do during one of the first really stormy days of fall but Ali and Misha were more than good sports. We first photographed these two at Ali’s brother Steven’s wedding and we are so glad we get to capture another wedding in this family. Thanks so much to these two for not letting a little wind and rain get in the way of a fantastic location. My initial vision of this location was late day sunlight all glowy and warm but because these two don’t live here and have a busy schedule before their wedding next summer this was our one day. Sometimes weather doesn’t go as planned but on this day even though it wasn’t what I had hoped for it ended up being amazing. Yes it was crazy windy, yes we got a little bit wet, yes one of us may have locked our keys in the car, yes Ali and Misha are in better shape then us as we sprinted up the mountain to beat the rain but it all led to some gorgeous images. Oh and we did let them put on some warmer clothing for the hike back down! This romantic stormy mountain top engagement session has made us that much more excited for their wedding.  Can’t wait to see you next summer!

Oh, i love everything about this session – her wind blown hair, your beautiful compositions, the landscape, creativity, the strength of those b&w photos, all of it. What a gorgeous collaboration.

Wow! So many epic moments and I loved the wind in this photo series. Really enjoying your blog posts. :)

Hatley Castle Wedding

Jennifer and Steven’s Hatley Castle wedding was such a perfect day for these two high school sweethearts. Sometimes you really do meet your person when you are a teenager! We loved that they seem to have grown up loving each other and then on this day they joined their families. These two were so relaxed and were just all about the love and a fun day with their friends and family which is our most favourite kind of wedding to photograph. Hatley Castle is a gorgeous venue and we love finding new little spots when we shoot here. This day had the ceremony in the croquet garden, cocktails on the castle patio with dinner in the drawing room led to a very romantic first dance under the moon. It was a perfect summer Hatley Castle wedding topped by gorgeous florals from our very dear friends at Rook & Rose – um the roses in the bouquet are just ridiculous! – and the most yummy cake from Ruth & Dean. So glad we get to see Steven’s family again next year when we get to capture his sister’s wedding!
