Morgan Creek Golf Course wedding of M&M

011_ elgin heritage park surrey bcWhen my sister Deniel moved to the lower mainland a few years ago my parents and brother were pretty sad. Micah was so sad in fact that he soon followed them and moved into their basement suite. Before he made the move my sister made a new friend Sharalee. One day they were visiting at Sharalee’s house her friend Megan was there as well. Sharalee found out that we had a brother and immediately yelled to Megan – “Hey Megs come and meet your future sister-in-law.” It was a pretty bold prediction that miraculously and lucky for everyone in my family came true!! So last August (yes I am THAT far behind in my blog posts!) Megs became Micah’s wife and our sister. Being the youngest and only boy I imagine it was pretty daunting for Megan to enter the world of our loud and always opinionated family of mostly girls. So when the wedding planning began Deniel and I told Megan we were happy to do whatever so put us to work. This wedding at Morgan Creek Golf Club in Surrey BC was a family labour – weeks of collecting cobalt blue glass bottles and vases, milk glass bud vases, doilies, silver trays, organizing flower orders, making bunting and banners and seating charts. but you do for those you love and we love them very much!! Megan loves deep blue and daisies so that led the theme and we went from there. I channeled my inner florist and with the help of good friends Erica of Rook & Rose Floral Boutique and Vanessa from Verbena Floral Design planned the floral decor and with the help of friends we did the arrangements and bud vases for the table and ceremony. My sister made all the pinwheel m&m favours, the banners, bunting, flower girls pinwheel bouquets and much more. I got out my glue gun and made the boutonnieres and mom found the perfect vintage jewelry set and reconstructed it into earrings and necklace for Micah to give to Megan at their first look. It was the most incredible day and being four months pregnant at the time I cried a lot. I was so honoured to be asked by my brother to stand up with him and when my sister came down the aisle as a bridesmaid and we looked at each other and looked at our brother it was a little ridiculous that I didn’t have any kleenex with me! Looking back at this day I am so thankful for my amazing family and most importantly for the beautiful Megs who is now Auntie Megs to my girls. You can never have enough sisters in life I am blessed to have another one. So congratulations a year later to my little budder and his Megs.

Awwww! I love these! Such heartfelt emotion! And seeing that your brother had you stand with him – my mama heart melts. That is so unbelievably cool. And you are right, you can never have too many sisters – I have 3 here on earth with me and 2 by marriage. It’s the best. xoxo.

that first photo is just amazing. And the b&w ones in the barn. And the close-up of him kissing her shoulder. And the colour photos & all that light on the beach. And those tears at the ceremony. And all your beautiful details. And mustaches. And the littles dancing. Oh my. SO fantastic. Beautiful, beautiful work. Congratulations to you all.

Kim & Huw’s Starling Lane Winery Wedding

Starling Lane Winery weddings were really really good to us last wedding season. We weren’t sure what it would be like shooting at the same venue three times in a month but each wedding was so unique and Starling Lane has so many interesting spots that we were able to capture each day in its own way. Kim and Huw’s wedding was so fun and easy going – just like this couple! It was the perfect backyard bbq but kept the elegant style of a classic wedding. I am not sure we have ever laughed so hard at a set of speeches as these two have some incredibly funny friends – especially the Swedish ones! Rather than move right into a seated reception Kim and Huw had their guests enjoy a few hours of garden games, cocktails, a silly dress up photo booth, and live music by talented friends. Just before dinner Kim shed her long white wedding dress and changed into a gorgeous embroidered Chinese gown for the rest of the evening. The wedding party continued the fun by entering the reception with their best dance moves. The focus was definitely on having a fun party and we are so glad we got to be there to capture it!

SUCH a fun wedding!!! You can tell everyone just had a blast – love that! You captured it so well. Love the black & whites of the couple and the field shots. There is something so classically modern that just draws you right in. Beautiful.
