Heidi and Michael’s downtown Victoria BC wedding was stylish and fun and just the right amount of vintage. There are some weddings and photographers who were just meant to be together and I am so glad I was able to capture this one. When Heidi & Michael first got in touch with me I wasn’t sure of our schedule would work out for them and I started to compile a list of people to recommend for them. But I just kept coming back to wanting to be able to shoot it myself. So sans Aaron I did this one solo and it was so fantastic. I had an idea formed for a while and was waiting for the right couple to use it. In the early stages I mentioned to Heidi that I love The Regional Assembly of Text and really loved that they had letter writing stations and thought it would be sweet if we did their first look there and they could write each other a letter. She told me she teared up as it was a favourite shop of hers to visit when she came to Victoria and couldn’t wait to do it. I am a sucker for good stationary and cards and this shop is such a gem. So this is where we all met and where Michael and Heidi started their wedding day together. Just down the street is Hey Happy Coffee whose front window bench was just waiting for a happy couple to occupy it. We moved through Old Town and over to the Union Pacific Coffee Co. for the ceremony and reception with just their nearest and dearest. I do’s and candy sprinkles confetti in the back courtyard followed by the party inside. There was the sweetest desert bar, with doughnut flavours I couldn’t have imagined, and if that wasn’t enough sweet for you there was a candy bar for favours as well! LOVE balloons, selfie photo props, pinatas in their initials, sparklers – this day had it all!! I also got to work with my good friend Sheri (and super talented florist!) of Petals and Planks who created the gorgeous florals which was such a treat. Super props to Sue Gillies for Heidi’s beautiful custom made gown. Thanks so much to Heidi and Michael for sharing your love with me and making it such a beautiful day for me to capture. Here is a look at Heidi and Michael’s day.
